In the fall of 2015, Shawn Mulrooney, and fiberglass expert Paul Benoit had begun plans for the possibility of constructing IOD class ships. The next year, in the spring of 2016, South Shore Marine received permission from the class federation allowing them to make their plans a reality.  In the following August, the mold arrived along with the parts and materials for the IOD in the back of a truck, and the start of many hours of work for Paul Benoit.

     Work progressed quickly and by the fall of 2016 the first IOD to be produced by South Shore Marine, named 'Zephyr II' is only awaiting a few finishing touches before she can be launched.    Should you wish to own one yourself, please contact us at info@southshoremarine.ca to be added to the waiting list.  For places to sail your IOD locally to us, please see Chester International One Design Fleet's website for races all throughout the season.
